Onions, etc.

Many times in composing a painting, you will use odd numbers of objects, but I sometimes like to use an even number--just to push the rule a little and see if I can make it work. When I was setting up this assortment of onions and shallots, I just played with the composition to try to make it flow. I especially liked the dried onion top and thought it and its' shadow helped make the painting--it's almost like the 7th object.

This was an oil on canvas still life, 11 x 14 and has been sold.
