Soon the farmer's field behind our house will be dotted with smiling, summery faces of sunflowers! I love the way they have an "attitude" after a few weeks when the rain, sun and wind have weathered them a bit. This watercolor is 4 7/8" wide by 11 7/8" high and is done on Canson 140# watercolor paper. It's just a blue summer sky behind the flower with the slightest indication of additional foliage at the bottom. I have it double matted with an off white acid free mat. Hope you enjoy it!

Spring Chores
SOLD
"Spring Chores" is a pastel, 9 x 12", done on LaCarte pastel paper. The location is New Pond Farm in West Redding, CT and it is an environmental education center and working farm. It hosts many groups of children over the course of the year and opens the farm to visitors to meander its beautiful acreage. Here's a link to view the site--it's a beautiful place! http://www.newpondfarm.org/
I've only been doing pastel for about a year and a half but find I love the medium! Hopefully, I'll be posting more soon.

Country Barn
With warm weather finally here, I was reminded of this watercolor painting I had done of a barn in summer, with flowers blooming by the roadside, framing the tranquil scene. It was done on 140# Arches paper, approximately 10 x 14". Happy to say it caught someone's eye and just sold!

Country Bouquet
As many of you know, I'm a picture framer in addition to being an artist. In recent years, I had framed many lovely pastel paintings generated in a class given by Peter Seltzer, an amazing pastel and oil artist. I decided I just had to give this medium a try and enrolled in Peter's class. I have to say I've come to love the pastel medium! Framing it is another story (it's difficult), but I love the immediacy and strength of color of working in pastel. This is my first effort worthy of framing so I'm excited to post it.
It's done on LaCarte pastel paper with hard and soft pastel. It's 14.5" wide and 15.75 " high. We're all waiting for the warmth of Spring here in the Northeast, so this is in tribute to our spring and summer flowers to come. Hope you enjoy it.

I thought this simple yellow rose and bud were a great reminder of warmer weather to come and flowers blooming in the garden. This watercolor floral is done on 140# Arches paper and measures 5 1/8" wide and 4 3/4" high.
Hope you enjoy this reminder of spring and summer's blooms.

Circling at Sunset
SOLD
"Whoosh" of wings in flight
Settling down at end of day
Circling at sunset
I guess by now you know I love the beach--the tranquility--the smells--the sounds--the shape of the dunes with their graceful grasses--the air that can only be found there. And of course, seagulls and seabirds are the "jewelry" that add the final touch.
This is a very small watercolor, 6" wide by 5.25" high and it is done on 140# Arches watercolor paper. I just thought in the middle of the blizzard we're currently experiencing in Connecticut, a "trip" to the beach would be just great! Enjoy.
