Country Bouquet

Country Bouquet

As many of you know, I'm a picture framer in addition to being an artist.  In recent years, I had framed many lovely pastel paintings generated in a class given by Peter Seltzer, an amazing pastel and oil artist.  I decided I just had to give this medium a try and enrolled in Peter's class.  I have to say I've come to love the pastel medium!  Framing it is another story (it's difficult), but I love the immediacy and strength of color of working in pastel.  This is my first effort worthy of framing so I'm excited to post it.

It's done on LaCarte pastel paper with hard and soft pastel.  It's 14.5" wide and 15.75 " high.  We're all waiting for the warmth of Spring here in the Northeast, so this is in tribute to our spring and summer flowers to come.  Hope you enjoy it.

I thought this simple yellow rose and bud were a great reminder of warmer weather to come and flowers blooming in the garden.  This watercolor floral is done on 140# Arches paper and measures 5 1/8" wide and 4 3/4" high.
Hope you enjoy this reminder of spring and summer's blooms.

Circling at Sunset

SOLD

"Whoosh" of wings in flight
Settling down at end of day
Circling at sunset

I guess by now you know I love the beach--the tranquility--the smells--the sounds--the shape of the dunes with their graceful grasses--the air that can only be found there.  And of course, seagulls and seabirds are the "jewelry" that add the final touch.

This is a very small watercolor, 6" wide by 5.25" high and it is done on 140# Arches watercolor paper.  I just thought in the middle of the blizzard we're currently experiencing in Connecticut, a "trip" to the beach would be just great!  Enjoy.

Quiet Reflection~ framed

"Quiet Reflection" is a small watercolor done on 140# Arches watercolor paper.  I wanted it to be a lovely, quiet, yet expansive, place to just sit and "be".  I'd like the viewer to feel they can take a breath and relax.
This piece, 4.75 " x 5.5" is double matted with acid-free mats and backing.  The finished size including the frame is 11.25 x 10.5".  Hope you enjoy it!

Reflection

 SOLD
Evening light colors
reflect on the quiet water
Lovely time of day

This is a small piece, only 4 3/4" x 5 1/4", but it was fun to see how much variety of color I could encompass with it.  You know by now I love evening skies and especially their reflection in water.  It's a beautiful time of day to just be in the moment.
Painted on Arches watercolor paper with transparent watercolor.

Day's End

SOLD

Day's end drawing near
Colors mingle in the sky
A streak of salmon

The glorious rusty fall foliage is the inspiration for this watercolor landscape.  Along with that, at least in this area of the country, the fall and winter skies are spectacular.  It takes my breath away at times to see the intense colors and cloud formations in the evening sky.  I hope this encourages you to take some time to view the sunsets!  This painting is done on Arches watercolor paper and measures approximately 8 3/4" x 11 3/4".
