The Flight

Quiet end of day
Water whispers on the shore
Dots across the sky.

I love to see the geese in flight formation--you can hear them honking before they pass by overhead.  They used to signal Fall, but they tend to stick around now and you can enjoy them knowing it's still Summer.  This little landscape is 6 3/8" x 6 3/8", done on 140# Lanaquarelle paper.

Evening Flight

                                                              Last warm rays of sun,
                                                              diamonds sparkle on water,
                                                              the seagulls call out.

That lovely time of evening at the beach, with the seagulls circling and swooping across the water and dunes.  This could be any beach--it's wherever your imagination takes you.   This time of day at the beach just makes me BREATHE and enjoy the tranquility.  Hope it does the same for you!

This watercolor was done on 140# Lanaquarelle paper.

Quiet Time

SOLD

Don't you just love the beach in the evening--most of the people have gone home--even the seagulls and seabirds seem to have quieted down for the night.  There's a warm glow in the sky, reflecting onto the beach path.  For me, it's the best time of the day at the ocean.

This is a small watercolor landscape, 6 1/2" x 9 1/2", painted on Lana Aquarelle paper.  It's really done from a fairly limited palette, keeping the overall tone of the painting "quiet".

Evening Glow

SOLD

"Evening Glow" is another serene, moody landscape done in watercolor on Arches paper.  The image size is 6 x 12", creating a long, narrow format which helps lend tranquility to the piece.  I enjoy doing this type of work because it's part memory, part imagination, and part surprise due to the capricious nature of watercolor.

Yellow Daffs

SOLD

Daffodils are blooming everywhere! My garden is dotted with their yellow heads, turning to face the sun and blowing in the spring breeze. This is, again, a layered watercolor, done on 300# Arches paper. It's approximately 10" x 7 3/4". Hope Spring is in full bloom wherever you are!

"A Pair of Tulips"

SOLD

Spring-tulips-a perfect match. This 11 x 14 oil painting was done on stretched canvas. It's a little different composition for a floral, with the leaves coming down from the corner. I really liked the shadows on the tabletop and decided they were an important part of the total painting.
