Morning Light II

Morning Light
Birds stirring pre-dawn
to welcome the morning light
Joy greets the new day

Another little haiku painting representing the beginning of the day--lots of color in the sky and the sun's warmth beginning to illuminate the landscape.  This piece, 3.75 x 9.5" is done on 140# Arches watercolor paper.  I've matted it with a v-groove mat to 10 x 16".  Nature certainly is awesome and inspiring!

"Evening"

SOLD

I love to do these small, moody paintings and I often write a haiku for them.  So here goes....

On the river bank
A quiet place to still your mind
And let your heart sing.

This watercolor, 3.5" x 9.375" was done on Arches 140# paper and will come matted in a 3" mat with a v-groove in 3/4" from the window opening.  This is not a specific place, but a product of imagination and experimentation--seems like a good thing to do from time to time!  Enjoy.

Reflection of Pride

This small (8.75 x 11.5") watercolor was painted with our upcoming Memorial Day in mind.  This house was located in Old Lyme, CT, and had a lovely vintage flag waving in the breeze and being reflected in the window.  Peonies and hollyhocks were in bloom along the gated white fence, inviting you to come in.  Happy upcoming Memorial Day to all!

Cape Cod Dunes

SOLD

Winter is just taking too long!  I'm thinking Spring and beyond--so here's a colored pencil painting of Cape Cod.  I love the snow fences and undulating dunes of the Cape.  This piece is done on Bristol smooth heavy stock and is double matted.  The inner mat is 1/8" white with a Warm White mat on top.  It's approx. 14" x 17" matted, with the piece itself being approx. 8" x 11".  Hope you enjoy my glimpse of warmer weather to come.

Yellow Barns ~ framed

SOLD

This painting is of one of my favorite areas in Connecticut--it's by the shore in Clinton and along a beautiful waterway crossing under Main Street.  This was in the summer, with lovely flowers blooming and the grasses along the water high and green.  You can catch a glimpse of Main Street with the church steeple on the right.  The watercolor painting itself is about 4" x 5.5", but it is double matted and framed in a 1.5" soft silvery-gold moulding, bringing it to 9.25 x 11.25" total.
Hope if you're surrounded by snow you'll enjoy this little reminder of summer..

Framed ~ "Petals of Sunshine"

SOLD

Well, it's the last day of January and time for my final "clear the studio" listing.

I framed this piece in a 7/8" dark brown (almost black) wooden frame, which really makes the rose stand out and complements nicely the dark background of the painting.  The framed size is 11 1/4 x 11 1/4" so it's an easy piece to hang for a bright spot of color.  This watercolor was done on 140# cold press watercolor paper, and framed with acid free mats and backing and u.v. filtering glass.

Snowy Field at Sunset

SOLD

With the extremely cold weather we're experiencing, I had to post this scene of the farm field adjacent to our home.  I guess a trade off for the cold weather is the beautiful sunsets in winter.  This is an oil on canvas, 11 x 14.  There certainly is great beauty in all seasons, we just have to look for it.
