Hurd House

This painting shows a portion of a beautiful historic house in Pennsylvania called the Hurd House.  I loved the play of the orange tiger lilies against the strong blue sky reflection in the window.  So many of these homes have the interesting textures of stone and stucco, a favorite of mine.  Tiger lilies are in blooming now in our area and always make a spectacular show of color.
This painting is done on Arches 300# watercolor paper.

  1. This is so charming and soothing to look at and imagine one's self in this idyllic little yard, living in such a home. I really love the Maine scene in the last post too, though. The way you moved the lines of the water and sky curving through the land... that's SO beautiful!
