Sunflower Season

SOLD

 Warm yellow petals
Smiling coppery faces
Sunflower Season

I LOVE sunflowers and think they have so much personality.  Sometimes their round copper faces stare boldly and sometimes they turn shyly away.  Such a beautiful dance.

This watercolor is painted on 300# Arches paper.  It's done in a style of many, many transparent layers. It's approximately 8 x 9.5".
Hope you enjoy this painting!

The Beach Path

Between the grasses
the evening breeze whispers
Gulls circle slowly

This painting is of a beach on Cape Cod, although I must say I don't remember which one!  I really liked just the sliver of ocean peeking through at the top of the path, and if you can just imagine for a minute, remember the call of the gulls.

This painting is approximately 9 3/8 x 6 1/2 and is done on Lanaquarelle 140# watercolor paper.

Crimson Glow

SOLD
Color of rubies
radiates a glowing warmth
trees in crimson light

I saw the first little cluster of crimson leaves on our swamp maple, which made me think of the glory of the landscape to come in the Fall.  This is just a moody landscape paying tribute to the change to come.

City Lights

Quiet hum of night
Ripples catching flecks of gold
Sparkling city lights

Windows catch the last glow of light from the setting sun, and some are lit from within.  It's a very peaceful time of day, especially with the buffer of water to soften the city sounds.  This watercolor, painted on Lanaquarelle 140# paper is 6.5" high by 9.5" wide.  Hope you enjoy this time of day as much as I do.

Last Light

Rusty red grasses
nod toward the setting sun
salute the last light

This end of day watercolor landscape is painted on 140# Lanaquarelle paper.  It's 9 1/4" wide by 6 1/4" high.  I hope you can feel the cool sand contrasting with the warmth of the light. This image is close to the original, but the painting itself is a little warmer at the horizon and in some of the sand.  Still trying to tweak my new scanner!
