Out of the Bag-Help the Children of Africa Challenge

This is the painting I am auctioning off for the DailyPaintWorks Challenge "Help Feed the Children of Africa". DPW Auctions is a site I've joined andI have participated in the past, through this site, in a Challenge to help the people of Japan with their earthquake disaster.

The paintings are auctioned off and the artist will donate all the proceeds from the sale (minus the shipping cost) to either the American Red Cross or the World Vision Organization. When my painting sold for the Japan Challenge, I donated to the American Red Cross and they provided a "receipt" of your donation, which was then shared with the purchaser of the painting. You can specify a cause when you make a donation.

It is my hope that all children will be fed healthy meals each day and be able to go to bed at night without being hungry. Please take a look at all the paintings being auctioned and see if perhaps one might be just for you.

Thank you for looking and here's a link to the auction site.

Cherries Jubilee

Cherries have a lot of character! I set up this still life and just put a handful of cherries on the napkin. I arranged them slightly into groups and made sure their stems were "talking" to each other. I feel the cherry on the far right has just had enough conversation... and is chilling out.

Although this painting is sold, prints, canvas transfers and notecards are available below.

Onions, etc.

Many times in composing a painting, you will use odd numbers of objects, but I sometimes like to use an even number--just to push the rule a little and see if I can make it work. When I was setting up this assortment of onions and shallots, I just played with the composition to try to make it flow. I especially liked the dried onion top and thought it and its' shadow helped make the painting--it's almost like the 7th object.

This was an oil on canvas still life, 11 x 14 and has been sold.

Let's Cook

This is the framed still-life painting, "Let's Cook". It's an oil on canvas, 11" x 14", framed in a 2" maghogany toned wooden frame. It's approximately 14 1/2" x 17 1/2" including the frame.

How many different things can you think of to cook with these ingredients? They could be the basics for so many yummy dishes!

This piece is up for auction and you can view it through the link below.

"Two Yellow Pears"

This is a small, 5 x 5 oil painting on canvas, framed in a simple gold frame. Pears are so interesting to paint with their variety of shape and color. They can be arranged in a set up so they are having a "conversation".

Mission at Carmel

On a trip to California, I visited this beautiful mission in Carmel. It was founded in the 1790's by Fr. Junipero Serra. Although the front of the building is also very interesting, I actually liked this side view, highlighting the bell tower and dome of the basilica. The flowers were abundant and the time of day produced lovely shadows.

I've created an auction for this piece with DPW Auctions. You can click on the link below to view or bid.
